I think I anticipated this day with as much excitement as the kids. I painted my nails, put a facial mask on, lit some candles, made some tea, and took a bath. I made myself look pretty... and here we are!
I have been pretty busy and so instead of creating a long post, here are a couple of pictures of what I have been up too.
We have what we call a "Round Up" Day for the entire school, where parents come to drop off thier supplies, meet the teachers, and students are able to grab schedules, get lockers, and get ready for the school year. I put out a table, quite like the informational table from a previous blog post, and added this easily read poster. I even included a QR code that parents could scan and instantly receive my contact information. You can make your own, for free, at www.qrstuff.com!
I made flyers for upcoming events, like my new Coffee Talk with the Counselor. I am really excited to do this this year and cannot wait to create better connections with the parents at my school. I plan on making this a very casual get together with a specific topic. Basically, I want parents to be able to come together and vent, chat, and ask questions. They will also leave with several resources.
New Student lunches are a must at my school. Well, any school. But, in a small community such as mine it can be even more difficult for kids to connect and feel included. I have a lot of fun at these lunches and play games with the students. I even created a scavenger hunt for them! Would you like a copy?
And here is my pride and joy of the school year so far. In an effort to get more organized and to more effectively commincate with the staff at my school, I created an information packet for every single one of them. I can not tell you how many people came up to me and said, "Thank You." In this packet, I included various forms, explanations of things, my year at a glance calendar, and more.
Wanna make your own? Here are some of mine for ideas:
I hope you are all having a great start to your school year as well.
